    Got a call from this number and it was delayed before they spoke which, is always a red flag to start. The female with a foreign Indian or out that way accent said hello Mr.... And then hesitated like she was reading it off something claimed to be from Microsoft and and they have been receiving information that my computer is being interfered with by scammers. As I smelt a rat from the beginning, I said.. You are in a call centre aren't you? I can hear the noise in the background. She went all silent, and I said you are trying to scam me aren't you? Your a scammer are you not?. Again she went all silent and hung up. I called the number back and it went straight to a mail box with a convent message saying the mail box was full and could I get not through.. She got busted big time!

    The caller claimed to be from Microsoft and that my computer and my identity have been hacked. And requesting me to go to the computer. I off the line and she called again. I declined.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
