    Claimed to be from Amazon and someone placed a order in my account for $1300.. And hackers in america are placing orders and they needed to go through a cancellation. Asked them for my details that they had, which was old information and wrong. As soon as I asked for my surname of the account they hung up on me.

    Called me and said was commonwealth bank needing to authorise a $499 transaction. Asked for who they thought they were calling. Told me her name (call centre from India) I then reiterated it and said my name was Lucy Vaggabon! Not me.

    Had a male call me saying he is from AGL and after a short introduction he proceeded to ask for my personal details (DOB, surname) to verify my details so he could proceed. When I refused to give my details, he said he could not proceed without them. I asked what the call was about, he just said 'sorry, I cannot proceed with your details' and hung up.

    My electricity bill was due yesterday, I paid but clearly it hasn’t come across yet as I got a rude call demanding I repay the bill I just paid! Changing electricity providers because of this call, I explained that I have paid and have proof even offering to email it across but they refused to provide me an email address and hanged up.

I Rang AGL and checked, No AGL haven't called me and No I don't owe any money. DO NOT give Any Info To These Crooks, if yr unsure call AGL yourself and sort it out.

    Claims they are AGL and I have unpaid amount. I checked and it's only 1 day overdue. They ask me to give them name and DOB, which I declined as my phone says it's the suspected spam number. I highly doubt its actual AGL, some kind of phising I suspect. If it's actually AGL, they need to get rid of this number and call from clean number.

    As mentioned, caller didn't speak but after 30s she spoke and claimed to be from AGL, she asked for my details (not going to give details to some stranger on phone) when I said I'm no longer with AGL she said I had unpaid bill. I politely said I'm waiting for my gas meter to be fixed as it's faulty, she hung up. Rude.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
