    Just had a call from this number stating they were AGL and referred to a suburb where I did have an account. They then asked me for my name and DOB. I never give these details to someone who has called me. Have also had recorded msgs from”AGL” requesting I pay an overdue bill (that was not yet due).

    I took a call from this number earlier today. She opened with my correct name and account address. Stated she was AGL and wanted to speak about an account that I had just closed (correct). When she request I confirm my personal details I said I won't be doing so and asked for a number to call back / she Indian accent cut me off and said well they'll go through the normal credit control procedures.

    I've 2 more calls from this number today. Now blocked. AGL employees wouldn't be calling at this volume.

    Perhaps they farm out bill recovery to another cheap collection agency. BTW the bill is not OD, but due shortly - even more suss. I suspect AGL staff are selling information.

    How about the federal police start to investigate this nonsense and charge a few.

    SCAM NUMBER.

    Called me from "AGL". Said they could do a 20% discount on my final bill. They had my address, amount owing and payment due date from my bill correct. They said they can provide the discount right now if I give them my card details over the phone. Hung up and he tried to call me again.

    No sure if it is a real AGL agent. The caller had my first name and my suburb. I confirmed my name and my DOB after she asked for my personal information. After that she said I have an overdue bill that she could help me to process via the phone if only I provide my bank details. I refused to provide and found a bit suspicious.

    This appears to be A.G.L Sydney. These guys are very persistent, multiple calls. I do not answer any interstate calls from (02) or (03).

    Someone called me saying it’s AGL. Then they asked me to confirm my personal detail. I said that I wasn’t going to disclosed my personal details. Then the person said that if I did not disclose my personal details they where going to keep calling, so I hang up and blocked the number.

    The nerve of some people!

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
