Overview of Phone Number 02 8227 1904

The phone number 02 8227 1904 / 0282271904 has garnered attention from various users, primarily characterising it as a source of both legitimate and scam-related calls. If you're uncertain about who's on the other end, it's essential to discern the nature of these calls to avoid falling victim to scams.

User Reports Summary

From user reports, it becomes evident that this number falls into two major categories. On one hand, there are instances of legitimate customer feedback surveys connected to known retailers, while on the other hand, numerous calls have been flagged as possible scams impersonating government agencies.

Identifying the Scam

A significant concern arises from complaints that identify calls from this number as scams alleging to be from the Australian Tax Office (ATO). One user recounts an experience where the caller used fear tactics, stating urgent action was needed to avoid an impending arrest or legal consequences. This alarming narrative is a hallmark of many telephone scams. Furthermore, the substandard English used by the callers raises red flags regarding their legitimacy.

Legit Outreach Attempts

Conversely, there are reports of the number being used for legitimate purposes such as customer satisfaction surveys from well-known retailers like Woolworths and Masters Home Improvements. These instances suggest that while the number might have legitimate usages, the deceptive activities linked to this number overshadow such connections, leading many users to be suspicious of any calls originating from it.

What to Do if You Receive a Call from 02 8227 1904

  • If you receive a call from this number, do not directly engage with it, especially if the caller claims to represent the ATO.
  • Do not provide any personal or financial information to the caller.
  • You can hang up and report the call to the appropriate authorities, such as Scamwatch or the ATO, for further investigation.
  • For legitimate feedback surveys from known retailers, be cautious and confirm through their official communication channels before engaging.

Conclusion

While 02 8227 1904 / 0282271904 may occasionally yield legitimate outreach from retailers, the prevalent user reports of scams significantly cloud its trustworthiness. SCAMMERS trying to make you think it's the ATO calling with urgent need to contact them on a number. Goes over time to threats of impending arrest warrants. Recorded message. I rang them on their own number and got an asian/indian/? voice very confused could hardly speak english. The recorded message also is bad in that it says "...this message is intended from the Australian Tax Office...." so they obviously are still learning how to construct real English. Poor dears. I reported it to ATO in late September 2016.
