    While waiting/waiting on a response from the number I phoned, it got lost and another call, not made by me was speaking to me. Caller said it was PayPal and they had two suspicious entries for $ and $. Did I want to pay them or cancel them. I played on with the call while I looked up my bank and PayPal on the computer. No problems there. Maybe 10 mins of me not understanding and he hung up after calling me names. The number on recent calls was 8223 9500. I am involved in the AHM and Medibank scam so perhaps my phone had become accessible through that. Thanks for the warning on your internet site.

    PayPal have been scammed by imposters and it looks like their emails and web sites have been hacked. You have been warned!

    I have the same as the above poster. I received an email asking me to update details. After I received a "verification code" in my email in response to 'forgot password' (I have) I was redirected to another page after A Till Don't Recognise You and this number appeared on it. "Charges may apply" if I call. This looks like a scam but the actual pages seem to be real PayPal pages. I've tried from DuckDuckGo with the same results. It doesn't really look legitimate imo.

    I got an email from PayPal telling me that I had recently changed my password and told me to call this number if I had not. I'm not sure if this is a scam email or not?!?!?

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
