    Just had a call like the other posters. It hangs up after a few seconds. No reply no answer. Weird. Are they trying to get a virus into your line???

    Supposedly, they expect you to be curious of who called, when they call and hang up. Simply getting you to waste your time and effort to call the number back.

    Well, that's the good thing about Search engines. I find the information I need and simply block these nuisance bastards.

    Received a call just then, like what others have said. When picked up no sound on the other end, and the caller hung up.

    Phone number immediately hung up when answered. When called back got a recorded message claiming to be on behalf of a fundraising organisation seeking donations. It seems very dodgy behaviour, shifting the cost to those that return the call, surely no legitimate organisation would behave in such a fashion. Do not answer, do not reply and definitely do not give them your bank details!

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
