Tech Support and Account Impersonation Scam Reports for 02 8103 4875

02 8103 4875 (also written as 0281034875) has attracted 46 community reports describing sophisticated impersonation scams targeting personal information and remote device access. The number, allocated to a local service provider in NSW, is being used by scammers posing as legitimate organisations including NBN, email service providers, and financial institutions.

Multiple contributors report that callers from 02 8103 4875 claim account security issues or service problems, then request personal details and remote access to devices. The scam pattern involves impersonation as the primary tactic, with 23 reports specifically flagging this behaviour. Several contributors report losing substantial sums after engaging with callers from 0281034875, with tactics including device takeover and fraudulent transactions.

What Callers from 02 8103 4875 Claim

Contributors receiving calls from 02 8103 4875 report callers posing as NBN representatives, requesting IP addresses and personal information under the pretence of service issues. One contributor described a caller claiming problems with their email account, while others report callers identifying themselves using names like "Mark" and "Samauth".

A particularly damaging report indicates callers from 0281034875 used the Desk Zoho app (a legitimate business tool) to gain remote access to devices. Once connected, scammers used this access to conduct unauthorised transactions, including gift card purchases. Contributors note that when challenged, these callers "crumble," suggesting they rely on initial trust rather than technical credibility.

Some reports describe callers with strong foreign accents, and several contributors note the calls trigger phone auto-blocking as potential fraud before answer. The impersonation tactic is consistent across reports, with scammers claiming affiliation with well-known Australian services to establish false legitimacy.

Report Patterns and Timing

Community reports for 02 8103 4875 span from May 2025 back to March 2025, with a significant cluster of reports on 19 March. One contributor reports receiving calls from this number nearly every week, with their phone automatically blocking the calls as potential fraud. The frequency and persistence of calls suggest systematic targeting rather than random dialling.

Multiple reports describe the devastating financial impact, with contributors stating "lost all savings," "lost everything," and "took over phone, lost everything." The escalation from initial contact to financial loss appears rapid in several cases. Different call channels (answered calls, missed calls, other contact methods) are reported, indicating the scammers adapt their approach based on response.

Today they called my number, (which I did not pick up) then my partner's phone advising that they were from Services NSW and that they picked up a possible fraudulent use of my licence using the Optus network. They wanted my phone number and email to send a verification code. Once I asked for more details, they hung up.

NOTE: they are now saying they are Services NSW.

Just adding to the growing list of complaints regarding this number. Caller claimed to be from "Telstra Internet Security". My internet isn't with Telstra, so I hung up, suspecting a scam attempt. Twenty minutes later I received a call from the same number - I suspected the caller may attempt to tell me they're from another "Internet Security" so I rejected the call and reported it to my carrier as a scam call.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do callers from 02 8103 4875 claim to be from NBN or other services?

Impersonation of legitimate services creates false trust, allowing scammers to request sensitive information like IP addresses or remote device access. A contributor reported that 02 8103 4875 callers claimed NBN affiliation specifically to justify requesting technical details. Using recognisable company names increases the likelihood victims will comply with unusual requests.

What should I do if someone from 0281034875 asks for remote access to my device?

Hang up immediately. Legitimate NBN, banks, and email providers do not request remote device access via unsolicited calls. Contributors who granted access to callers from 02 8103 4875 report losing entire savings after scammers used Desk Zoho or similar tools to conduct unauthorised transactions. Never provide remote access unless you initiated contact with the organisation directly.

Is 02 8103 4875 actually an NBN or bank number?

No. 0281034875 is allocated to a local service provider in NSW but is being misused by scammers impersonating NBN, email providers, and financial services. The number itself is legitimate, but scammers are spoofing their calls to appear as if they're from this number. Legitimate NBN and banks will never ask for IP addresses, passwords, or remote access during unsolicited calls.

How do I know if a call from 02 8103 4875 is a scam?

Multiple red flags indicate a scam: requests for IP addresses, passwords, or personal banking details; unsolicited claims of account problems; requests for remote device access; or urgency and threats. Contributors report that callers from 0281034875 often have strong accents and crumble when challenged, suggesting they're reading scripts rather than working for legitimate services. Always verify by contacting the organisation directly using their official website phone number.

What happened to people who answered calls from 0281034875?

Contributors report severe financial losses after engaging with callers from 02 8103 4875. One person lost all savings after a scammer took over their phone. Another lost money through fraudulent gift card purchases after granting remote access. The scammers used compromised devices to access bank accounts and conduct unauthorised transactions. If you engaged with this number, contact your bank immediately and change all passwords.

How can I block 02 8103 4875 from calling me?

Add 0281034875 to your phone's blocked contacts list or use your phone's built-in spam filter. Many phones now automatically flag numbers from 02 8103 4875 as potential fraud. You can also register your number on the Do Not Call Register at donotcall.gov.au, though this won't prevent scammers from calling. Contributors report this number calls repeatedly, so blocking is essential.
