What Our Users Reviewed
Got the call and didn't recognise the number so I ignored it.2 seconds later I got a message saying I was going to be arrested for tax evasion which isn't possible because I don't need to pay them yet. Scam, ignore it.
I actually answered the call to my landline knowing that most of the calls we get through there are scam ones, the likes of solar etc that I usually hang up on. We actually are behind on our tax so it was very upsetting to listen to the whole thing about ignoring letters (not received any from our accountant)and being arrested etc. (Also had one similar the other week saying we had Centerlink issues which we don't so I did hang up on that one.) Wasn't quick enough to get the number to ring back, perhaps a good thing. Then my husband did the last number recall thing and then this reverse number page so starting to feel a little better now. I found it very upsetting. Given the way people are being treated by Centerlink et al at the moment, it kind of didn't surprise me though. Yes the voice was American/Asian? same as the others by the sound of it. Glad this page is here. At least it did prompt us to ring our accountant!
Came home from the dentist to find a recorded message claiming to be from the ATO. Immediately knew it is a scam when it was a recorded message of a person with a US accent. I'd like to know why Telcos can issue phone numbers to obvious dodgy businesses?
Recorded message left on machine they don't even know who they want to talk to but saying several letters sent for tax evasion.
Automated female US voice claiming that I have ignored letters from the tax office (doesn't say ATO) because I haven't done my tax. Claims I will be issued with a warrant for my arrest if I don't phone the number back. Scam.
Called this number after actually listening to their dribble about owing tax and having a warrant issued for my arrest. When the guy answere the phone I asked them to repeat where they were from. I was told he was from the ATO.
So, I asked the scammer on the line if they were really from the ATO for just someone pretending to be from the ATO.. They hung up on me... Guess that answered my question. :-D.
An automated call telling me a warrant had been issued for my arrest and telling me to call them back. Just a bunch of scamming low-lifes.
Scam call from ATO telling me I'm going to jail for tax evasion.
Apparently the ATO - gave them fake tax file number and name... They found my account though. I owe them $2486 lol.
Its Automate message.. Says from ATO.. Tax Audit blab blab.
