    Indian Telemarketers selling Insurance, Energy etc + Scammers - All actual phone numbers in Australia beginning with "8" are the numbers of these Telemarketers & Scam Artists, be the call originates from Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, etc. This system of numbers beginning with "8” is Telstra's gift to these Telemarketers & Scammers so as to enable them to "Harass us daily, Scam our hard earned monies, damage our physical and mental health. Waste our time and generally make our life a misery”. THANKS a LOT & THREE CHEERS to TELSTRA. What is needed is a 2 or 3 billion dollar "Class Action Lawsuit" against Telstra & there Telemarketing clients, by half a million or more fed-up Aussies to help Telstra wake up and put their house in order. This is harassment, in all its forms, on a grand scale, enacted on a great percentage of the Australian population. What did we do wrong to deserve this grand harassment from Telstra to have them unleash this misery upon us!!!!! God or the Lawyers please help us !!!!

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
