    If they can't leave a message, cannot be important... My message bank did have part messages, each hung up before message was left. All I could work out was that all were automated, but couldn't catch the details as the message hung up almost immediately.

    If the call centre already knows my mobile, landline and email. If it is important they can easily message, email their website and their purpose. People have right to choose what is suitable for themselves without being pressurised to make a decision over the phone to sign up for a contract, etc. For example if it is marketing National Broadband Network, people should do their research whether National Broadband Network.4G.5G is best for their home and their budget, etc.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
