The phone number 02 8091 7676 has garnered significant attention for its association with aggressive scam tactics. Users have repeatedly reported this number as part of a scheme that preys on the vulnerable, particularly the elderly, by offering supposedly legitimate devices that promise to block unwanted calls.
What is the Scam About?
According to various reports, callers claiming to represent organisations like the "National Do Not Call Register" or even "Microsoft" attempt to sell or rent a device intended to shield recipients from unwanted telemarketers. The catch? These scammers request credit card details under the guise of a trial offer or a low monthly fee.
- Deceptive Claims: Callers often assure recipients that they won’t be charged until they are satisfied with the "device" and will "verify" their details with their bank. However, this is merely a ruse to obtain sensitive financial information.
- Targeting Vulnerable Groups: Many reports highlight that these calls are especially concerning due to their target demographic — older individuals who may not be tech-savvy and thus more likely to fall for these scams.
- High Call Volume: Some users have reported receiving multiple calls from this number within a short time frame, indicating a persistent effort to contact potential victims.

Such an annoying scammer called me today. He said his name is Sam calling from National Do Not Call. He said that he called from the government. His contact number is 02 8091 7676. He said he will send though a device that cost $5/month over 3 years to block all unwanted calls. I have figured out something is not right. So be careful people!
"Veronica fromDo not call Register" calls to sell you a device to stop scam callers, have reported this number for scamming.
Caller claims they have a device to sell/rent for 3 years to protect against unwanted callers, you don't pay anything but just give them your credit card details....... Oh we won't take any money until you are happy with the device and we check with your bank that details are correct... Ha ha ha. This is a nasty scam and would suck elderly people in, haven't had one of these calls before, rather funny actually, convinced them to post the device with an invoice and will send money when received, caller said oh thank you.. Good bye. be very careful of these nasty people.
