    Watch out! That is a scam...! I've received an email apparently from Commonwealth Bank that someone just tried to arrange a purchase for Target. Pty Ltd. The message also said that I should immediately call 02 8091 2409 if I hadn't made this purchase. I called from a landline in the afternoon (I thought it was a scam) and they called me back on my mobile number (where did they get my mobile number from?!) at 11 pm. A man called me back and said that he would arrange a refund if I pass on my details including my date of birth. I said I wouldn't do that and then he hung up....

    Absolute scam. Unlike the other reviews, I got an email about a CommBank unauthorised transaction, and I do have a CommBank account. I had recently lost my laptop so worried that whoever stole in made the transactions and called the number immediately. They got my details and took a lot of money from me. The bank is currently investigating.

    Received a spam email appearing to be from sender "Westpac Team" about a new device logging in to my online banking and to call this number to avoid blocks on my account. Email had copied logo's and layout etc, however when you look further into email address it is obviously a scammer.

    Didn't get a call from here but received an email allegedly from "The Westpac Team" quoting this number to call urgently about an unknown login to my Westpac online account. Obviously a scam as I do not have a Westpac account!

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
