    Legit call from CBA fraud dept to let me know my card was being used for suspicious transactions, cancelled my card and disputed charges. Called CBA's customer service line (132221) after speaking with them and they confirmed it was legitimate and that my CC had been cancelled and a new one would be sent out.

    Not a scam. Was very sus after reading the some people say it was. Checked with CBA by calling 132221 who reconnected me to the Fraud Dept and then they were able to confirm everything they discussed with me earlier was actually on my file, when they called and who called me.

    It's not a scam.

    You should call commonwealth bank on the number you find on their websites.

    I got same messages and called them. They said there are suspicious transactions and advised me stop the card. I did.

    *NOT SCAM* I received a text message asking if I had attempted using uber and to respond yes or no depending if I had or not... As soon as I responded No I had a call from this number which I didn't answer and they left a voice message. They then tried to call again a few minutes later. I listened to the voice message and they stated that they were from Commonwealth Bank and that they believe someone has access to my card details and I must call them immediately. I did ring them as I was concerned as I did have a transaction on my account that I didn't make. I spoke to a lady who said my card needs to be replaced and that I will have a new one sent sometime in the next week. I was worried after reading threads about this number so I called Commonwealth Bank who assured me that it was a legitimate call and told me the ladies name who I had spoke to and then basically told me the same thing that lady who originally called me had said. So from my experience this is definitely not a scam and you could have someone attempting to use your card.

    Hung up as soon as the number called after receiving texts from "Commonwealth Bank"...scam. Check your bank balance if this number calls though, it seems like they do it after they already have access to your account - the Commonwealth should be able to help you get it back if you get in contact as soon as possible.

    After paying for shopping I immediately got a text from +61 447 268 622 saying "Commonwealth Bank would like to confirm your purchase from (exact location), please respond YES or NO", which I ignored. About 30 minutes later I got another text saying "It is very important you respond". My father then received an automated call on his landline asking about my details, and I had 3 missed calls from this 02 8070 2202 number (from 9am Sunday morning until 4.30pm when I blocked it). An automated voicemail with an Australian woman's voice asked me to then call 1300 754 566. I confirmed with CommBank on 132221 that they did not call me. DEFINITELY A SCAM.

    It is a SCAM. Ring the official commonwealth bank number from their site and they will confirm it is not from them. Some scammer has some of your details and needs more from you to be able to steal your information. Don't whatever you do give any information to any number not on the official commonwealth bank site. Anyone who has said otherwise about this number on this page is probably the scammer trying to get your information.

    At first I thought a call from this number was a scam, but then called Commonwealth Bank directly (132221) and spoke to the Fraud department and confirmed it was them that had made contact and there was in fact a suspected fraudulent charge that had been made to my credit card.

    IF EVER IN DOUBT, CALL THE BANK DIRECTLY 132221 AND ASK TO SPEAK TO THEIR FRAUD DEPARTMENT.

    So sorry, but have to eat humble pie for leaving the previous message - turns out that this was due to legitimate attempt from Commonwealth bank to contact me regarding a fraudulant charge attempt to my credit card.

    Just received two SMS from +61447268622 stating that I had an unauthorised purchase of $X from my credit card and then a follow up phone call from 02 8070 2202, with recorded message saying it was from the Commonwealth Bank Security Department.

    Phoned Commonwealth Bank directly and my concerns were verified that it was not legitimate.

    THIS IS A SCAM - DO NOT REPLY TO THEM VIA SMS AND HANG UP STRAIGHT AWAY IF THEY TRY TO CALL YOU - YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!

    I recently had my account used to purchase some goods totaling to 180$ in a site called catchoftheday. Not sure if its a coincidence or not but a number (0288535353) called my phone early on the same day with some recorded voice claiming to be an automated commonwealth bank message for an important info regarding my acc. Also, this number sent me some text as well claiming to have $3434 pulled off from my account, which fortunately did not go through. I have contacted commonwealth bank to investigate this matter and I think that others experiencing the same issue should as well just to raise the awareness and stress on how serious this could get.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
