    They called me and offered me the super search. They asked for my details and I didn't want to give it. So they let me test them on my d.o.b. I gave them fake ones and nothing matched. Then I gave my real one and it was right. They did the test on my address as well. They did the search and I called through to the AMP no. On their website and confirmed that the no. Is one of theirs.

    I was very suspicious and asked them to send an email, since they already had the details, so that I could get off the phone before doing something stupid. I contacted AMP and they affirmed to me that they are a company within AMP. They search for any lost superannuation you may have, with either them or other superannuation companies. Amp offered to me that they could do it themselves or go with the "peakbound company" (I think that is what they were called). So I asked AMP to go ahead by emailing to me what is involved and for AMP to do the same job as requested by this phone call. AMP have been receiving many enquiries about this call.

    They called me and said they are from AMP too and wanted customer information to find lost super but I'm sure you can do it yourself so don't need to provide personal information to them!

    I have spoken to Wendy at AMP on the Customer Enquiries phone number 131 267.

    I was informed that the phonecall regarding a super search, from 02 8069 5126, is in fact legimate...

    But as always, take care providing your information during a company-initiated phonecall.

    My wife received a call from this number and the caller said they were from the AMP.

    The caller was anglo and they said that the AMP would find any superannuation amounts and gather them together.

    The caller asked for her surname and wanted to know her Tax File Number.

    Normally you would expect a caller to know the name of the person they were calling.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
