Indian male telling me he would give me cash for being “a good energy bill payer” (his exact words)
Told me I was eligible for lower rates if I was to tell him how much my last few bills were.
I said I thought you were calling me as I was “a good energy bill payer” so you should have this information.
He said “yes I know this, but you need to tell me so I can check against my records”
I didn’t care to entertain him much further, so hung up on the scammer.
Call centre background noise. As soon as I heard this I hung up.
I received a call from this number. Male difficult to understand. Possibly indian. Noisy call centre.
He went straight into a spiel as if read from a script. Thanking me for being such a good customer.
I asked “a good customer from where or what? You haven’t even told me where you are calling from”
He said “I am from Bill Comparison ma’am. You are a very good customer who pays your bills on time and I am giving you a lucky offer”
(a “lucky customer” 🙄 seriously 🙄🙄🙄)
I asked “what bills are you referring to?”
He said “your energy bills”
I then asked for his name which he claimed it to be “Roger”
He then continued from his script saying “because you are a good bill payer, I am going to give you cash AND heavy discounts on your future bills”
I interrupted him and asked “what property are you referring to?”
He said “your house”
Me “which house?”
Him “your home in Gosford”
Me “I don’t live in Gosford”
Him “well give me your new address and I will update our system”
Me “no” and hung up.
I have NEVER lived in Gosford.
So I believe this to be a scammer.
