Initial Impressions
On January 24, 2024, a user described a conversation with a woman claiming to represent the Cerebral Palsy Association in Sydney. While she started by assuring that no money would be requested over the phone, she later prompted the individual to provide sensitive bank details under the pretense of setting up automatic donations. Got a call from this number this morning and the lady stated she was from Cerebal Palsy association in Sydney. She said she wouldn’t ask for any money over the phone and just wanted to talk to me. After a couple minutes she then asked me if I would donate to the company. I said yes and she asked me for my BSB and Account number from my bank account saying she would go to the bank with my details and a verbal agreement from the phone call and the bank would allow her to take money from my account every fortnight. I thought this was weird so I said I would donate online. She said the company prefers people to donate with BSB and Account number but this didn’t make any sense to me so again I said I would donate online and thought that would be it. She then asked for my residential address so I hung up. Very weird call because I don’t remember giving them my name and number.
