I was on facebook newsfeed and clicked on a picture story on the right hand side of the screen, it took me to a site that said it was porn or the like, do not turn off you device ring this number immediately or your IP address will be reported and they will be able to gain access to all your computer files. I closed everything down only by taking out the battery on my PC, as it was completely frozen, then ran a security scan on my PC and deleted two viruses from the same company. The number 0280172666 DO NOT RING IT.

I was on Facebook reading my News feed. I clicked on a advertising site next moment I am linked to a porn site. The message I read is to call this phone no.02 8017 2666. I've been reluctant to use my Notebook since. Only now I decided to Google this phone number. So glad I didn't ring the number. They claim to have access to my personal details etc... The background had a look alike Microsoft Support page. I was suspicious. I shut down my Notebook until my tech savvy son visits. Wow. I am relieved. A scam.

My mother got done by these guys. It looks like she hit a link in Facebook that launched a booby trapped page. Sadly, even after telling her multiple times to never trust anything like this, she did. She called the number. They gained access to her machine via redirecting her browser to [link] (I'm assuming there was a link on the page... She can't tell me). She handed over a credit card number. Her account did not have admin rights on her PC, so they spent time trying to elevate. She denies it, but it looks like she entered the password to the admin account into the UAC prompt as well. They installed Chrome. The cleared the browser history. Needless to say, I have burnt her machine and am now restoring her data. In the future, she will not have the password to an admin account. Talk to your loved ones people. You can't warn them often enough.

This number managed to gain access to my nanna's computer without her consent, offered to 'fix' her computer and tried to charge her a large sum of money.

Be aware, this could be a scam. Had a relative almost scammed by trying to gain access to the computer. It doesn't appear they have enough info to do any real harm - however they may threaten you anyway. It will most likely be a bluff.

    Treat as a scam!
