I believe this number is operating a dodgy business as others have mentioned. Not sure whether they are trying to sell a product or fish for information re identity fraud. I am unaware of how they got my number as I refuse to put it on online lists etc due to irritating marketing calls. As one other commentator noted perhaps they have received our numbers from a legitimate company via an employee doing the dodge.
I had a missed call from this number, when I called back I received amessage........ We will try again later, I stayed on the line, when a man answered,"hello" I said I had a missed call from this number and the man hung up - sounds dodgy!
They say they are from My Essentials and are giving you the change to win $2.000. I asked how they got my name and mobile number and said I must have entered an online competition, it was about 6 months ago. I said I hadn't and he insisted I must have 'accidentally' clicked on a link. If that was the case, how in the heck would they have name and number. I got angry and said if they didn't delete my details from their records I would be reporting them. A friend has similar problems with insurance. I suspect someone in a company somewhere, is passing/selling on customer records on the sly!!!
