    They sent me an email saying that they have approved my loan application but was not able to contact me. I called back on the number that they left in the email and one Indian accented guy picked it up and I explained my reason for calling, he transferred me to someone named Laura Smith who was the name that sent me the email at the first place. Anyway we discussed about my loan application(btw the application was so long ago that I almost forgot about it) and she suggested that I upgrade my loan amount to 10k so it's easier to whatever now that I can't recall. Anyway she said she's sending me the contract and all I need to do is sign it and the fund will deposit blah blah blah. But then she said there is an insurance fee that I need to pay upfront because my loan amount had reached 10k. It's 700 something bucks and that's when I got suspicious. And then I ended the call and googled their company name, nothing. And then I thought this might be scan. Then I searched the phone number, and indeed it's spam.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
