    I think he said his name was Samuel Wilson, he was calling about "the car accident I was in earlier this year". I said I hadn't been in a car accident this year, he seemed to attempt to jog my memory, eventually gave up. The line was a bit sketchy and he didn't speak clearly so he was difficult to understand.

    Just had a call from the same number telling me that I had a car accident, when I asked where they got my details I was told from the claim form that I had submitted. I told them I have not been involved in an accident and I have not filed a claim Do Not be fooled into giving any details, obvious scam.

    Called today for the second time claiming that I had an accident claim. As I told them on the previous occasion I have never been in an accident. I told them not to call again. I must have sounded pretty firm about it because I hung up to the applause of my co workers. Hmph!

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
