    Got a phone call from Cameron, who said he was from Microsoft, conducting the bi-annual audit of our licencing agreement. The phone line was a bit crackly... He asked if I was the person who looked after our companies IT department. He then said that he wanted to send me an email with the audit, he then asked if I could give him my email, which I replied that microsoft should have it already.

    I then asked if I could call him back regarding this as we use an external IT company to manage the licencing aspect. He gave me the number 02 80113111 ext 9426 to call him back on using Reference Number: 1339 2692 - I then hung up and rang Microsoft on their normal number and they confirmed that this is 100% a scam. BEWARE of this group.

    I got a call from Jae Chun – says he was from microsoft.

    Asked him for his number and he gave me 0280113111.

    Extension 9252.

    Said he'd sent me an email - so I said I'd ring him back.

    I believe he is a scammer.

    This number claims to be from Microsoft. I have confirmation that this is a scam. Do not send any details to this number and please report it if they call.

    If they do call - Ask for the number that you can call them back on. I had to say my emails weren't working and I needed their number to give to my IT Company so they could give them the "reports" back.

    Purports to be from Microsoft and their software asset management program. Tbe extension provided is NOT for the person in the email/letters and when they call you the calling number is not from Australia but in Asia. Treat suspiciously.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
