The caller claimed to represent a company with fluctuations showing on our account and referred to us as loyal customers. They requested access to our computer, but I expressed that I wasn't comfortable with it. When I pressed for more information about the supposed fluctuations or issues, they refused to answer my questions. They quickly wanted me to hang up and suggested I could call back if needed.
The caller claimed to be from Microsoft Security, stating that my computer had been compromised and they needed access to fix the issue. They have called me three times after I hung up on them each time, which is quite concerning.
This call was a scam. The caller claimed that our computer had been compromised and offered assistance while we were attempting to install TrendMacro. He convinced us that we needed help and ultimately, we paid over $500 to update the program. Afterward, we realized it was all a scam, and we do not believe that TrendMacro was involved in any wrongdoing.
