    Scammers called twice - claiming that I was eligible for Optus discount. I called back and they we're a bit baffled, didn't have any of my info thankfully. I let them chat on for a bit until they asked me to login via a link they would text, told them they were trying to scam me and they said "well if that's how you feel" and hung up. Hilarious.

    Confirmed with Optus it's not them.

    Scammers called and claiming that I was eligible for 50% discount with Optus for the next 6 months. They were able to verify all of contract information from Optus such as, my billing number, last billing date, last billing amount, next billing date. Since they were able to provide me with all the details I gave them my license details for verification. I called Optus after and they said it wasn’t them.

    Be careful it’s a confirmed scam.

    Claimed to be Optus offering 50% off my bill. Sent fake confirmation text and couldn't explain why the number wouldn't redirect back to Optus when I dialed it.

    Be careful, seems like a scam.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
