    Spam/Scam. Received an email saying I had paid for an iPhone 13 through PayPal and call this number if it is not correct. "The transaction will appear in your system soon." is a warning to hurry up and call.

    This number 8006 9194 was in a email claiming to be from PayPal, informing me that I'd sold a saxophone from my website. I actually do have a website that sells saxophones.

    The sender appeared to be mdbozlurrahaman67@gmail.com.

    One of the most annoying aspects of this scammer is that he doesn't ask me to do anything - no link to click on, no ID details to provide, no login to share.

    It's just a clever time waster.

    I'd have more respect for his method if the steal was obvious, or at least discernible.

    This number was included with a scam email. It claims a $799 iPhone was paid for with my PayPal account, and just in case there are any questions I can always call them on this NSW number.

    Anyone using PayPal can instantly recognise that they don't do this. Definite scam. Usually the phone calls are to gather or confirm information about you for a later more direct attack.

    Don't call this number! Or accept calls from it. They tried the same tactic about 2 weeks ago with another scam email. There's a simple font in 2 shades of blue pretending to be the PayPal logo on both, so even if you block images it kind of looks similar to the PayPal logo in the email.

    This number will be reported and shut down quickly before they move on to the next. Boring.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
