    They told me they were telstra. Very thick Indian voices. We sent them $500 dollars to stop our card being hacked into. They said that $300 had been taken out then another $3000 last Monday. We were on the phone for over 5 hours whilst they showed us these supposed 6 hackers who were in our account etc. Today they rang and asked for another $1000 with a great story. My sister was on the phone for about an hour again, but I said no, enough is enough? So we hung up and went down to the bank to change everything. I hadn't been convinced last Monday and asked for their phone number and they gave us 02680068121 which is sydney. They gave their address as 215 miller st. Nth sydney. We rang that number and it was the same person so we thought it was telstra.

    But today, after we told them to get lost, I looked up the number on my iPad and it was a block of offices TO RENT. So I guess they were in there. They have probably gone now if they were ever in there. I read on this page that that number can come from India if they put some numbers in front of it. Mongrels. They got $500 odd dollars from us but no more.

    So never send money over the internet especially a mr Woo in china. I rang the nth sydney police and he said they would take a ride down there this arvo and have a look but I would be surprised if he does. I'd like our $500 back but I reckon it's gone now. I thank God we didn't send them the $1000. The police said they would ring back so I'll post what they say, if they do.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
