Today just 5 minutes ago I received phone call that came up as a private number and woman Anna said that she is ringing from Telstra, technical support and if I know that my internet will be disconnected for 15 days as our internet was hacked and that I have to fix the problem online with her immediately. I asked her why her number appeared - private & that before she give me her number I am not going to do anything. Had to ask her 5 times and each time she tried to change the subject. But finally she gave me - 80067924 but when I told her I have to check the number & if its really from Testra, she hanged up.
"Telstra" call - woman called Anna - said our internet was being hacked, and we would be disconnected for 15 days if we didn't fix the problem online with her immediately.
Asked for her number then I hung up.
Same thing happened to me. The lady with an Indian accent claimed herself as Jasmin Wilson with Telstra employee ID TLS959062.
Same thing... Said he was from Telstra and wanted me to press the windows key and the R at the same time...
Told him I would ring Telstra Support myself and thats when he gave me the phone no. Scammers.
I forgot to mention that when I told him that line was really bad and asked if I could call him back he gave the number as 02 8006 7924.
Received a phone call that came up as a private number. I first spoke to a woman who told me that she was calling from Telstra about our internet service and that we had been hacked from overseas. When I was in front of the computer she transferred me to the Tech support Michael who told me the same thing and that I needed to fix this today and he could help me! I pretended to be pressing buttons and telling him that nothing was happening. He got real frustrated when I couldn't find the key that said "Windows" but then told me to type in a website address for teamviewer. I then asked him if he was going to take control of my computer and he said no but he would tell me how to fix my problem. After 10 minutes, I started getting bored and told him that I was too smart for a scammer like him. After 5 minutes of him trying to convince me that he was not a scammer he told me that he would show me where my client id number could be found and then he would tell me. I asked him to tell me the id number first and he slowly spelled out 8 8 8 F U C K O F F making sure that he paused in between numbers and letters. As soon as I wrote the first 2 letters, I had an idea of what was going to be said. He then asked me to repeat the number back so I did the same thing, one number at a time, then one letter, making sure I said what a word that each letter started. By the time I got to C he had had enough and just told me to F*** off and hung up. Call probably lasted about 20 minutes so hopefully that's at least one other naive person that I saved.
