    Had a call from this number saying my internet was comprised and at fault and they needed access to my computer. Said they were from Telstra and willingly gave this number to call back. I said I would refer to my IT person and they said no need for that as I could easily fix it myself on my computer. I refused and reiterated they talk with our IT person and they hung up.

    A man called from this number 0280067629 claiming that someone was trying to get into my computer (infiltrate my computer). I told him that I don't have a computer and asked him for his number, which he gave readily. I called him back and he answered. His name was David and had an Asian accent.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
