    This is a scam. Got a call from 02 8006 5012 saying to be from ATO warning me that a case has been raised against me and to call another number to discuss this matter. I hang up immediately.

    It left a recorded message that a law suit is filed under my name and I should call back immediately or an arrest warrant would be issued. It does not say who called or what organisation he is calling from. According to a Web site, this belongs to TBOTB The Best Of The Best Pty Ltd, Avoca Beach, NSW. Someone else also got the same threat. He says it is a spam.

    Scammer. If you don't answer, it leaves a robotic sounding voice mail insisting you call them (their generic department) back or they will issue an arrest warrant! Hahaha. I think these kind of people should spend long time in Hell and/or have parts of their bodies removed.

    Scam- they state if you don't call them back they will have you arrested.

    American accent on digital message even though supposedly a local Sydney number.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
