    There was a recorded message left on our answering machining saying the first part I can't make out as the answering machine was probably still going through its motions the rest is ". ....filed against your name and warrant for your arrest. Now before the case is sent for execution and you have received the legal course of notification you can call the taxation office on 02 80064677 don't ignore".

    I know for a fact that our tax paperwork and payments are up to date. As a small business owner I am in regular contact with my accountant.

    This is most definitely a scam.

    The best thing to do is have a laugh and IGNORE. If you are concerned Google the Australian Taxation Office's number and contact them.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
