I played along for a little bit before unleashing an absolute torrent of abuse at him. Initially they were shocked then they tried to abuse back at which I laughed my head off. ATO Tax Scam. They will try to convince you that you will be arrested if you don't pay an outstanding tax bill in iTunes cards. As if anybody with half a brain would believe that you pay off a tax bill in iTunes.

I asked a friend to ring back from a different number and they told me that the phone was answered by an Indian person who couldn't speak English very well who said that they were from the Investigation Office of the Australian Taxation Office. Clearly a scam as there is no way the tax office would seek as a first step to arrest you for a tax investigation. This is the sort of thing which gives Indian people a bad name.
