    Received a voice message from this number also advising of lawsuit being filed and myself and my family are being investigated. They claimed to have tried to make contact several times prior.

    Sounded like a pre-recorded message/robot.

    Appears to be spam and trying to scare people into giving personal details.

    This is a definite scam, I received a call which was a recording supposedly from the Australian Taxation office to say I was under investigation. I knew it was a scam because the taxation dept don’t communicate in this way.. To save everybody’s time I made the call. Some silly Indian woman who struggled to speak English answered the phone as the Australian Taxation Office, however when I pressed her for a locatiion the line was cut and despite further attempts the call would not be answered. Don’t waste your time with these pathetic uneducated, unimaginative fools.

    Just received a recorded message "from the ATO" saying there's a lawsuit etc and to call back on this number. Clearly a scam.

    Scam number, be careful. Just called them back and they claimed to be the ATO Fraud department. When I asked for help, they hang up.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
