Yep, had a similar call today. Claims to be from bank and says that my account has had fraudulent activity (it hasn't!). Once I told him that he's clearly lying and a scammer, I mentioned that I would call my bank myself to confirm if this was true or not. He suggested that I contact my bank on this number: 0280061178. Bit stupid as it clearly directs back to him. He originally called from 03 9917 7878.

Had a call from a random mobile number claiming to be from the Visa & Mastercard Department. He wanted me to log in to my internet banking as someone was trying to send a payment without my authorisation but I said I wasn't home. He gave me this number 02 8006 1178 to call him back on.

This number is being used for a scam. Someone will call your mobile and ask you about an attempted transaction in my case on my Visa CC. They provide details of attempted transaction and indicate that they have detected this activity and want to check how and when ou last accessed you online banking and if you have shared your password with anyone. They will if asked provide this number and an employee ID. If you call they answer Visa Fraud Office or similar. They then want you to downlaod an App on your mobile phone called Zoho Assist Customer this App will allow them to remotely access your phone do not download. The three people I spoke with all had thick Indian acsents and when I questioned they attempted to transfer me to a Manager at which stage I hanged up and called my bank directly and also for safety also changed my paasword formy Online banking.
