    I received a call form this number yesterday. An automated male voice with an American accent asked that I call back, adding that if I did not, I would be arrested. I have contacted the Do Not Call Register to trace this number and then report them to the police for harrassment.

    TOTAL SCAM CALL.

    I received a call from this number today (04/03/2019)and it appeared to be a computer generated voice claiming to be from the Australian Taxation Office demanding I call them on a number provided or else a warrant for my arrest would be issued. Did not use my name but claimed I was involved in several law suits with the Taxation Office.

    Definitely a scam number. Computer talking at me when I answered and the claim that it was the Australian Tax Office. This is not how the ATO makes contact. I called back and the person on the end managed to identify themselves as the ATO but couldn't answer some basic questions and promptly copped a serve!

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
