    I had a the same experience as Susan below. An auto-mated message was played back to me immediately stating I had made a purchase for $299 from Amazon, and if that was not a purchase I made, to contact a said number. I did not make that purchase and checked my bank account details to ensure there was no fraudulent transactions against my account. I hav now update my Amazon password. S-C-A-M!

    I received a call from this number and it left a voice mail asking to call regarding a charge on my Amazon account. When I called back I was advised that both an itunes gift card and an Amazon gift card had been purchased against my account over the previous two days. When I advised I had not initiated either transaction they told me I must have, several times. I then asked why were they calling me - he then explained the transactions looked suspicious. I asked if the transactions were suspicious and they were calling me to check them why was he insisting I made the purchases? This was beyond suspicious. I've been into my Amazon account - no such transactions appear. I've upgraded my password and two level sign in. This is clearly a scam.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
