    Got this call. Indian accent man claiming from Telstra and talking about our internet he had to check (could not really understand what he was saying). Told him I was finding this call suspicious and was about to hang up. He hung up.

    When this number called me, some how my phone seemed to answer the call automatically. After I realised someone was talking I held it close to listen and I heard something about they have been trying to contact me, whoever they are, I missed that bit.

    They are saying they will cancel my internet and phone service and told me to get connected to the National Broadband Network. At that point I thought 'f#*k', and hung up.

    It was obviously a robot voice. I wonder how the hell they hacked my phone for automatic answering, and why would they tell me to get connected to the National Broadband Network, I mean how could they benefit from that, unless it is actually legit. But anyway I talked with my service provider and I'm pretty sure I can continue on my current plan. I guess I will find out by the end of the month. But the part that really concerns me the most is how my phone automatically answered. I mean it's like it's all connected, all the iPhones and computers and AI and Skynet! Dammit! It's all downhill from here. The F#*n robots are gonna take our jobs and take our internet and all our digital services, which is a lot. I mean we can't really do anything in this world without digital services. Checkmate humanity! The machines are winning!

    This number calls, doesn't leave message. I don't speak but they ask me by my name with heavy accent of sub-continent. Judging by the reports of previous reporters, would have to assume this is a SCAM of some kind. Block, delete, and keep reporting. I guess Telstra and the government see somewhere.

    I figure this number is a Scam. Recorded message claimed that I will be billed for monthly music subscription and to press "1" to speak to someone. Confusing, as I have recently bought some books via Amazon Australia.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
