Had a call from this number from a Jason and what he said was a place called Marketing Solutions, was a survey about How Inflation effects me and investments. He already had my full name. There was an age range question 20-30,40-50,50-60 ect. If the house has renewable energy, which state I live in and then he asked if I am working or retired. I said currently unemployed and he seemed a bit confused at that and slightly put off and then he said thats all and hung up.

Either it's a survey directed to those currently working or retired or I'm not the right target for the scam. Had legit surveys before and they always said something along the lines the survey is targeted towards x age group, people currently employed things like that. So heavily leaning towards a scam, probably collected some basic info from a company that sold my data.

The caller claimed to be from an Australian research company, had my name and mobile phone number and wanted to ask me questions about how I was affected by current high interest rates and inflation. She had a heavy South Asian accent and was barely understandable. I asked where she was physically located and she said New South Wales. I said NSW is very large geographically with a population of over 8m people so could she give more specific information about her location. She ended the call promptly. Sound like another a scammer after my money.

Just called 1410 on 7th July.

Claimed to be some Australian research centre.

I could barely understand a word through his thick whining Philippines accent.

Said his name was Phillip Lopez or something similar.

Kept wanting to know how I was.

I said it depends on what he wanted, then he hung up.

Clearly another scumbucket scammer.

High possibility of a Scam caller.

Heavy Indian accent.

Not an available number when calling back.

Delay in audio response suggestive of overseas NOT a genuine NSW domicile.

I now have it blocked. Grrrr….

I was asked several questions regarding an "investment" survey. One of the last questions was about which state I'm in (options were QLD, VIC, NSW). When I inquired about the information they had about me, the caller simply moved on to the next question. After asking again if they only had my name and number, the caller hung up. When I tried to call back, the number was disconnected.

I reckon its a total scam, do not answer and do not give them your personal information. I explain below.

The call I received was from: 02 7912 0977.

Poor English pronunciation.

They claim that they are conducting a survey to Australians about increased interest rates (A very popular juicy topic which does in fact affect us considerably)

I asked how they got my number and answered some convoluted rubbish about a research company who sold them my number (WELL THATS ILEGAL!).

But I carried on to see how the scam works. So they start with decent general questions like age bracket and if I am employed (Which is how they build confidence I suppose).

But then everything fell apart when they asked: if I am a supervisor, manager or team leader (Well that is a terrible question for any research!)

So I said None of those.

So he got a bit shocked and asked: What is your job title. (Are you kidding me??!!!)

So I said I am not answering!

AND THIS IS HOW I CAN CONFIRM ITS A SCAM:

Person on the phone went Uh-oh....! Uhm... And hung up.

Game Over.

I received a call from a Filipino call center. They asked for me by name and claimed it was a survey about the effects of inflation on my finances. When I inquired if it was a legitimate survey or just a marketing pitch for a financial advisor, the caller abruptly hung up.

This is yet another scam call. I’m just adding them to my ever-growing list of suspicious phone numbers.

The caller asked for me by name but hung up before I could respond. When I tried to call back, the message stated that the number could not be reached. I'm sure this was a spam call.

A call came from the number (02) 7912 0977. They asked for me by name, but when I inquired about who was calling, they hung up. I was unable to call back, so I marked this number as a suspicious spam caller and reported it to the ACCC Scam Watch.
