02 7912 0973: Potential Scam Number Targeting Australian Residents

I appreciate all the previous reports about this number. If we can collectively work to report them, perhaps we can reduce the number of these spam calls we receive. I have blocked the number using the telecommunications scam reporting website. Once we track down these scammers, I hope they face consequences.

I received a call from this number this afternoon. When I inquired about what would happen to my information if I provided it, the female caller, who spoke with an Indian accent, abruptly hung up on me.

I received a non-local call from (02) 7912 0973. Recognizing it as a potential scam, I answered and sarcastically said, "Hello scammer, what do you want?" They immediately hung up, confirming my suspicions.

I did not receive a voicemail from this caller, so I blocked the number and saved it in my contacts as “A Scam.” I have accumulated a large list of scam numbers under this contact now.

The caller asked me to participate in a survey. I recommend being cautious with calls like this, as they may be scams.

Someone from "Australian Growth Research", and they knew my name.

I hung up and have blocked their number.

I received a scam survey call. As soon as I recognized it as such, I hung up and blocked the number without giving any information.

I answered a call from a woman with a foreign accent who seemed to know my name but struggled to pronounce it correctly. The conversation was broken, and she hung up without explanation. I have since blocked the number.

They called me but did not leave a message.

A female caller addressed me by name and started talking about a survey. When I asked for more details about the survey, she abruptly hung up. I have since blocked the number.

When I receive calls from numbers I don't recognize and detect a heavy accent on the line, I hang up immediately and block the number. It's concerning if a legitimate business employs individuals with accents that are typically associated with scam or fraudulent calls.

I answered the call, but it was silent on the other end. After about 5 seconds, the call disconnected.

There have been multiple complaints about this number (02) 7912 0973 being a scam since early April 2023. I recommend ignoring calls from this number, blocking it, and reporting it as unsafe.

Be cautious as scammers often obtain their contact information from social media platforms like Facebook. If you have your name and phone number visible, consider adjusting your privacy settings to 'friends only' to reduce unwanted calls.

I answered a call from this number, but as soon as I said "hello," they hung up on me. After reading reports from others about this number, I decided to block it to avoid future calls.

I received a similar call from a woman with an Indian accent who wanted to conduct a survey about the effects of interest rates and inflation. I was unable to engage as I was driving, and I found it strange that she had my full name. It’s suspicious, and I agree we should not respond or engage with this number; instead, it should be blocked.

A man called pretending to represent a survey company, but it quickly became apparent that he was likely a fake finance company trying to obtain my personal information. I refused to engage with him, which led him to insult me by calling me a "smart c..t" for wasting his time. I ultimately hung up. I believe Australian phone regulators could do more to combat these scammers.

Received a call from this number and a lady with Indian accent said "Hello" and hung up. I tried to call back but the line could not be connected. Block this number.

I received a call from a man with an Indian accent claiming to be conducting a survey about interest rates and inflation. When I asked further questions, he insulted me with foul language. His behavior was unprofessional and indicates this is likely a scam.

The caller spoke with an American accent and addressed me by my full name. They left a voicemail that quickly turned aggressive and included swearing for no apparent reason. Since I don’t know who they are, I have decided to block them.

When I answered the call, there was a delay in connecting and responding from their end. They eventually disconnected, but I could tell it was a call center before that happened.

I’ve been receiving numerous calls from this number on both of my phones.

Scammers for sure.

Indian woman called me and said she’s from “Australian Growth Research”. I looked this up and doesn’t seem to exist. She said the call will only take a minute. Then she asked me what age bracket I’m in, I said 20s. She asked if I was turning 30 next year and I said no. She then just hung up. Definitely a scam.

Possibly scam linked, attended the call but no response from other end. Tried calling back but unsucessfull.

Claimed to be “Australian Growth Institution” doing a research on the rental crisis. Said they are locally based but greeted me with “good evening” when it is morning. Sounded remarkably courteous and professional. Ended the call only asking my age and which state I live in.

I started to feel it was not right not until after a while, should’ve been smarter.

Quite a few searches over the last couple of days. These actions of 02 7912 0973 appear to be those of an “active number” gathering program. If the number it dials is answered then that number is added to their database for sale later. Dialed me 3 times in succession today, all went unanswered.

Went straight to voicemail heavy breathing then hung up.

Called and when I tried to call back 2 minutes later it said line busy watch out.

The call went to voice mail, where a man with an asian accent asked for my name. Nothing further was recorded so I don't know who it was. I hid my number and called them back but it was constantly "busy"...

I received an unsolicited call from a financial services company, which I did not contact or ask to call me.

An unknown caller contacted me from an Australian number but didn't leave a message. The area code was '02', which is primarily associated with New South Wales, but they didn’t specify a state.
