Recent user reports identify 02 7254 3857 as a scam number engaging in identity fraud by impersonating the financial service PayPal. This number is part of a well-documented trend where scammers use threatening and misleading tactics to extort money from unsuspecting individuals.

The Scam in Detail

Multiple accounts reveal that calls from this number utilise recorded messages claiming that the recipient owes money or that funds are to be deducted unless immediate action is taken. Specific reports highlighted the following common themes:

  • A message indicating a sum owed to PayPal, suggesting an amount such as $299 or $206, typically related to an ‘order’ that the recipient did not place.
  • Instructions to respond to the call or press a number to cancel a fake transaction.
  • The disconnection of calls once questioned, further reinforcing that this is a scam operation relying on intimidation and urgency.

Recognising the Red Flags
