What Our Users Reviewed
Call received from similar number 02 7249 3824 so beware of calls from this number as well. When I answered after several rings the line seemed dead. I called it back but there was dead silence like a dead number. I don't normally answer calls unless I know who is calling but I have been expecting a call from my bank and banks use obscure looking numbers sometimes so in this instance I did answer and tested the number to see if it was my bank or a scam. It's almost certainly a scam. Take care out there!
Was a text at dinner time that left a 1:32 recording. Sounded like a Korean call centre with spotty reception. Not English speaking so beware of this unknown number. Spam/phishing.

What should I do if 02 7249 2606 calls me and there's silence on the line?
Hang up immediately. Do not speak, do not press any buttons, and do not try to call back. Silent calls from 0272492606 are typically robocalls testing whether your number is active. Calling back confirms your number to scammers and may result in more calls. Block 02 7249 2606 in your phone settings and report it to ACMA.
Why would a call from 02 7249 2606 return silence when I call back?
The dead silence when calling back 0272492606 indicates the line is either not monitored or deliberately disconnected after automated calls are made. This is a common robocall tactic - the system dials outbound but has no capacity to receive incoming calls. It confirms the call from 02 7249 2606 was not a real person or legitimate business.
Is 02 7249 2606 connected to my bank?
No. While banks sometimes use numbers that appear obscure, 0272492606 is not a legitimate banking number. If you receive a call from 02 7249 2606 claiming to be your bank, hang up and call your bank directly using the number on your statement or their official website. Never call back a number that called you when security is involved.
What does the SMS from 02 7249 2606 with a voicemail recording mean?
The SMS containing a voicemail-style recording from 0272492606 is a phishing and callback scam tactic. The recording comes from a call centre attempting to create urgency or curiosity so you'll call back. Calling back the number may result in premium charges or further scam targeting. Delete the SMS and do not engage.
Should I be worried about the similar number 02 7249 3824 mentioned in reports?
Yes. One contributor reported calls from both 02 7249 2606 and 02 7249 3824, suggesting they are part of the same robocall campaign. Scammers use multiple sequential numbers to increase callback rates. Block both 0272492606 and 02 7249 3824 in your phone, and report both to ACMA at acma.gov.au.
