Amazon Impersonation Reports for 02 7246 4819

Two contributors have reported scam calls from 02 7246 4819 (also written as 0272464819) involving callers impersonating Amazon Security. Both reports describe the same pattern: a caller identifying himself as "Sam Parker" claiming fraudulent activity on the victim's Amazon account, specifically unauthorized iPhone purchases made in the early morning hours.

The caller uses fake urgency, claiming the transactions need to be stopped immediately before further charges occur. In both instances, the caller requested remote access to the victim's account to "resolve" the issue - a classic hallmark of account takeover scams. When one contributor declined engagement and a second kept the caller on the line without complying, the caller became verbally aggressive.

What Callers from 02 7246 4819 Claim

According to community reports, the caller claiming to be from Amazon Security opens by stating a high-value iPhone purchase (including iPhone 17 models) has been made on the victim's account from a distant location (California mentioned in one report) during early morning hours. The caller asks if the victim made the purchase, and when the answer is no, pivots to requesting account access.

One contributor reported the caller spoke with a noticeable Indian accent and poor English, reinforcing the impersonation. Notably, one victim kept the caller engaged without an actual Amazon account, yet the caller continued the script and became increasingly aggressive when the victim attempted to end the call, using profanity and refusing to accept a callback request.

Report Patterns and Timing

Both reports about 02 7246 4819 occurred within hours of each other on the same day (18 May 2026), suggesting coordinated calling campaigns. One caller reached the victim early in the morning, consistent with the fictional "4:04 am" purchase claim mentioned in the reports. The aggressive verbal escalation documented in one report indicates these callers are trained to pressure victims into compliance.

The number is allocated to Symbio Networks in NSW, though this tells us only about the routing infrastructure, not the scammer's actual location. Both contributors who answered the call from 0272464819 immediately recognized the scam and took action - one hung up and blocked immediately, while the other deliberately stalled the caller to avoid compliance.

Poor English speaking “Sam Parker” allegedly from Amazon claimed that there was a fraudulent purchase of an iPhone on my account made this morning in the early hours.

Told him I wasn’t interested.

Hung up and blocked the scammer. Also reported number to ACMA.

Indian Sam Parker claimed to be from Amazon Security.

Called to advise that an iPhone 17 was purchased on my Amazon account in California at 4:04 am.

He asked if I had made the purchase. I said no. He said well we need to stop this charge before any more transactions take place.

He asked me if he could remote access my account.

I said “sure, if you need to”

(I don’t have an Amazon account so literally just kept him going)

I then said I had someone knocking on my door and asked if I could call back. He said he can’t accept incoming calls and was happy to wait.

I left him hanging for a while and then picked the phone back up and said “look I will have to call you back”

He then got extremely aggressive and started swearing at me.

Hung up and blocked.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I allow remote access if Amazon calls me claiming fraud?

No. Amazon will never request remote access during a legitimate security call. Contributors who received calls from 02 7246 4819 report the caller specifically asked for account access - a major red flag. Hang up and contact Amazon using the official number on your account statement.

Why does the caller from 0272464819 know about recent purchases?

Scammers often use publicly available data or information from previous data breaches to build credibility. One contributor was told about a specific transaction time (4:04 am) - this is standard social engineering. The caller uses details to make the scam seem legitimate, but legitimate companies verify your identity differently.

What should I do if I already gave remote access to someone who called from 02 7246 4819?

Change your Amazon password immediately, review your account activity for unauthorized transactions, check your credit card for fraudulent charges, and contact Amazon Security directly. If you allowed access to your computer, run antivirus software and consider having a professional assess your device.

Can I call the number 0272464819 back if I missed the call?

No. Do not call back. Contributors who received calls from 02 7246 4819 have reported this is a scam - calling back connects you directly to the fraudster. Block the number instead and contact Amazon through official channels.

Why did the caller from 02 7246 4819 become aggressive when I tried to end the call?

One contributor reported that the caller became verbally abusive when the victim said they needed to call back later. This aggressive escalation is typical of scammers who rely on pressure and emotion to override victim hesitation. It's a sign the call is fraudulent - legitimate companies remain professional.

Is 02 7246 4819 really Amazon?

No. The number 0272464819 is being used by scammers impersonating Amazon Security. Both reports describe poor English, fictional scenarios (iPhone 17 purchases from overseas), and requests for unauthorized remote access - none of which Amazon does. Use the contact details on your official Amazon account to verify any security concerns.
