    Nuisance caller. Doesn't leave messages & when you do answer it is hollow like a call centre. Have had 3 calls today & a couple last week. I don't know them & if they were legitimate they would leave a message.

    SCAM. Repeatedly called my home number, when I finally answered it was a man with a heavy indian accent claiming to be from Telstra technical department and there was an issue with my internet. He couldn't provide any details on the account or account holder and got rather aggravated when I wouldn't answer his questions until he provided proof he was from Telstra.

    Keeps ringing and ringing, finally I picked up and a man with a strong Indian accent spoke. He claimed he was from Telstra Technical Dept and I has a big problem with my internet and was going to fix it! Hahaha little did he know I have already did some home work on the number and knew it was a 'scam' and I told him so! He would not hang up and until started shouting abuse to him over and over did he finally hang up! From now on any suspected 'scam' numbers that ring me, I will now answer "hello Police line how can I help you' that usually gets rid of them. Be careful….SCAMM.

    This number has called three times today and on the last occasion I answered to hear an Indian accented male say he was Telstra Technical Dept calling about my internet connection. I told him I do not have the Internet and he hung up. A SCAM.

    This number has called our Brisbane landline at least 4 times in the last two days. When answered there is no response and just a hang up. Probably a robocall of some type!

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
