Understanding the Calls from 02 6777 6832
Recently, users have reported receiving persistent calls from the number 02 6777 6832. Alarmingly, this number is associated with a phishing scam targeting unsuspecting individuals under the pretense of being an Amazon Prime representative. The fraudulent callers typically use automated voices to convey a message regarding an "Amazon Prime account." However, the truth is far from what is presented on the other end of the line.
How the Scam Operates
The automated message often states that your Amazon Prime account is about to incur a charge. It might even mention a dollar amount, prompting unwary recipients to fear potential unauthorised deductions. The scam coaxes users to press 1 to "speak to a customer service officer." Those who engage with this scam often encounter a fast-talking individual with a thick accent, leading to confusion and difficulties in understanding the instructions. During these interactions, victims are asked to perform various online actions to 'cancel' their account, further entangling them in this ruse.
Identifying the Scam
This report aligns consistently with a typical phishing tactic, where scammers exploit brand names— in this case, Amazon— to build trust and manipulate people into providing sensitive information or following risky advice. Users have reported being quick to suspect foul play, and upon challenging the caller's legitimacy, they often end up abruptly hung up on. Thankfully, no funds were deducted, but the experience leaves individuals feeling uneasy and concerned about their personal info security.
Protecting Yourself
If you receive a call from 02 6777 6832, maintain a cautious approach:
- Do not engage further: Do not press any numbers or answer their questions.
- Do not provide any personal details: Legitimate companies will not ask for sensitive information through unsolicited calls.
- Report the incident: Consider lodging your experience with Scamwatch or your local authorities.
- Hang up: If it sounds suspicious, it probably is.
Always remember to utilise resources like Reverseau or Reverse Phone Lookup Australia for identifying unknown numbers. Being well-informed and sceptical of unexpected calls can help you dodge such scams.

What Our Users Reviewed
This is not the first time this number has called. An automated voice delivers a message saying "your Amazon Prime account is about to debt {provides a dollar amount} from your account". It then goes on to say "press 1 to speak to a customer service officer". I did press 1 once & found myself speaking to a woman who spoke quickly & had a thick Indian accent, which I had difficulty understanding. Anyway, she started instructing me on things I had to do online to cancel this Amazon Prime account. I was pretty sure I didn't have an Amazon account. I said to her "that's not how things work to cancel accounts, you have to do it". She started to repeat the explanation. I stopped her mid sentence & challenged that if she indeed worked for Amazon, she should be able to cancel an account otherwise [as I had suspected] she was some kind of scammer. She hung up pretty quickly after that. Anyway, no funds were deducted. I've lodged a report with scamwatch, but here we are, again today, receiving calls from this pest.
