I had an email from an Owen Harris last week and yesterday from a Morris Moor, both requesting work to be done at their house. One installing electronics and electrical equipment, the second CCTV equipment.
Owen Harris: "Hello,
This is Owen Harrison I want to you install some new electronics I bought for my new apartment which includes ceiling fans.55 inches HDMI TV.8 wall lights and 10 power point. Also I would like to know if you accept credit card for payment. Reply me if you are available for the work so I can give you more details.
Thanks".
Morris Moore:
"Hello,
I am Morris, I am new in the area, and I have just acquired a property. I will like to know if you do security camera installation? I would like security camera to be fixed on the property. Also I would like to know if you accept credit card for payment. I await your urgent response.
Thanks".
I straight out ignored the first one because it looked very suspicious, then the second email appeared, I did a quick face book search and none of those name came up for my town, we live in a small town. Did a quick Google search and this site came up.
So after reading this page I decided to reply to "Morris Moore".
I love stringing along those "microsoft technicians " who wants to fix my computer, actually my kids enjoy it more, keep the "technician" on long enough to get to the car and the kids hang onto the horn with the phone right next to it, cracks the kids up every time.
Reply from "Morris Moore".
:"Thanks for getting back to me, I wished I could call you directly but unfortunately I'm currently on a business trip outside the country and this is the best way I could communicate with you for now and I want the camera to be installed before I'm back, hope that's fine by you? My car was stolen in front of my house several months ago and I have decided to get security cameras on the new property, so I would need you to install 5 HD quality cameras with DVR system in my new home.
The Removals Company will be coming with my furniture and my belongings, as they are helping me move all belongings from my former house to my new home but I need you to meet up with the removalist at my premises on delivery day in other to drop the furniture, because they are actually coming in with my keys, hence you can have access to the house, then I shall pass you my credit card details for payment accordingly".
So he is new in town, but his car got broken into several months ago????????
His car got broken into several months ago, but the removalists are only delivering the furniture now??????
If he's been in town for several months he would've been joined at least one of the local facebook pages.
Will see if we end up with the same phone number.
I haven't been given a number, but have been emailed by the "Scott Wallace".
Exact same story given re hearing impairment and cochlear implant -.
The whole story was not sitting right and we have been digging around for a few days trying to get more info and other possible targets.
I was approached by e-mail from Chris Babb to hold a "recovery party" at my venue. He never once mentioned the venue and told the cholera ear/hearing impaired story and also wanted to give credit card details so I could pay his jazz band $3000. Same story as he has told you all. I knew it was a scam so didn't proceed but thanks to your comments confirming this.
Chris Babb again with the venue and Jazz Band thing in Queensland.
Thank you for the info people have put on here.
We have just had a Paul Wallace asking us to transfer $3000 to pay for a removalist after transferring money from his credit card.
Would not give us a contact number for him.
The emails sent are pretty much word for word that have been previously post.
Hi I have Mark Wallace telling me the same story using same excuse moving. Sent me his credit card probably not his.
Giving false address this time 32 tawaldi cresent Kariong new.
Scam scam scam I do cash only sales with my Business so I hope he's been reported or actually her.
Who knows.
I've got 'Scott Walllace' trying the old scam on me now. Its normally Brian Green trying to scam people while he is in hospital.
I'm an electrical contractor and know this scam and I'm just doing the time wasting thing with him for as long as possible before I give him a final mouthful via email. I've asked for the removalists phone number and been given the number shown above to confirm a delivery date with his so called driver.
I really wish there was something that could be done about these people. While I'm aware of this scam others must fall for it hence why they keep on trying.
Anyway, if one of them is trying to scam you play them along for as long as you can, but never give any details of your business.
Cheers.
