What Our Users Reviewed
I received a missed call from this number. When I called the number to see who called me, a pre-recorded message played saying that I had committed income tax fraud, and to press "1" in order to proceed to speak with someone. The person who answered (on the other end) had an African-Australian accent, and did not sound like an ATO employee. Regardless, after they said, "Hello, ____ speaking." I said that I had received a call from them saying something about 'committing income tax fraud'. After I spoke; the person on the other end said nothing and immediately hung up the phone. I tried calling the number again, but now I am greeted with a pre-recorded message saying, "The number you've called is not connected, please check the number before calling again.".
This is very suspicious and I suspect that my voice might have been recorded, perhaps in an attempt to steal my identity.
