When you call back 0262161140 which seems to be a landline, you get the following message: Optus advises that the mobile number has been discontinued.
So what gives?
I have been phoned by this number 2 times in the last 2 days and have just found out it is a Telephone booth reverse calling so when I answer they just hang up.
Maura is right there has been several calls in Melbourne saying that they have to pay taxes. I just experienced the same call, they asked me to give personal information and my cousin gave our address. For our sake my dad knew that this was a scam and asked where they lived. As soon as we asked she cut the phone. After we tried to call and it said no SUCH NUMBER. My cousins friends have been getting the same calls saying that they would be arrested if the didn't give $3.950! This is a spam! We Informed THE POLICE AND GAVE A CASE. I have received several calls and a text message. The phone calls all have this number. I deleted the message so I don’t know what number it came from. In all cases it says that I have breached paying tax and that the tax Dept needs to be contacted as I may be arrrested and jailed. It says to press 1 to speak to a consultant. Which I didn’t do. Instead I called them back and it says there is no such number..... The text message says the same and to contact on the link provided. I am sure it is a scam.

They just call me by this number 0262161140 Canberra capital. They said this call from Tax office Aus. I think its scam and hang up the phone. Pls don’t pick up the phone from this number to call you. It’s SCAM.
Scam! Pretending to be the tax office. They told me that I had committed tax fraud and that there was warrant out for my arrest. Ehh I think not. Confirmed it with the real ATO just to be safe haha and filled out a report.
I also got a cal from this number saying that I haven't pay my tax and tehy going to arrest me withing couple of days. He said he is a tax officer and gave his name. He is not talking in proper English and this is a scam call. Please be aware. Do not call back or give your CC details or any personal details.

I received an automated call saying it was from the TAX department from this number 0262161140.
I rang the TAX Department as I was certain it was Spam and they confirmed it !
Claimed to be Australian Taxation office. When recording started "This is your final warning....", I hung up without listening to the rest of the message.
Supposedly the A.T.O. and I will be arrested if I do not pay some outstanding debt.
Returned the call but the computer says it's not connected.
