ATO SCAM!! DO NOT ACCEPT ANY CALLS FROM THIS NUMBER!
Don’t believe any calls from this number. I believe the number transfers to a call center as I spoke to 3 different people. They claim to be the ATO in order to scam innocent people into sending them money to settle an ATO debt. They make up an obscene amount of money and say that you owe this to the ATO. Then they offer you the choice to pay a lesser amount if you choose to settle the debt outside of court. But your payment has to be sent through Western Union.
The stuff that comes out of their mouths just becomes more stupid by the second. I then called the ATO number listed on Google and told them the story, they said it was definitely a scam and the ATO only have an office in Albury NOT in Canberra.
SCAM ALERT: Said they were ATO, that I had committed tax fraud, that there was a warrant out for my arrest and that I or my lawyer should call this phone number. NICE TRY.
