What Our Users Reviewed
Received an automated voice message saying that the call must be returned immediately or there would be serious legal consequences. At the end of the message it says 'good luck!' If that doesn't show its a scam I don't know what does!!
Rang & left a computer generated message on our answering machine informing us that we delinquent in our payment, registered mail had been returned unsigned, and that there was now a warrant out for our arrest!
This could be quite distressing for some people if they didn't realise it's a total scam.
Same sort of call as others have received from this No. A bunch of idiots phoning from overseas, linked through to a number in Canberra. The heavily accented voice says "This is Jim from the ATO Australian Taxation Office Legal Department". Now, the ATO doesn't refer to themselves as that and secondly, they are not working at 8.15am on a Saturday morning when this "clown" called. I have tried often to have these people traced, having provided details of the phone No.
Get repeated calls from this number daily. They never leave messages. Called back and was answered as Australian Tax Department on second ring. Now like that would ever happen with a government department, you would expect an automated system and be on hold for at least 20 minutes. Total scam!!!
I also had a message from this number with something about facing legal action, when I rang the number I was also told it was the Australian Taxation Office, which it obviously is not. I told him I would ring my local ATO and also the police.
When I rang back this number back, he told me he was the Tax Office. Wanted the number I had been called on, so we can sort it out, but I told the person I will call the Tax Office and then talk to him.
