Just got the same call - ATO saying there was an urgent lawsuit against my name. SCAM.
They are scammers claiming to work for ATO, tried to get my address and some personal details.
This was hilarious. Scam 100% couldn't even speak proper english.
Just received a missed call and voice message from this number. Indian accent advising I had a critical lawsuit filed against me. No indication of where they were calling from. Have blocked this caller.
Got a call this morning and they left a message. "Matthew from ATO" and that I need to call back because of a critical lawsuit filed against me. Sounded like a foreign robot.
These guys asked me to purchase itunes store cards at coles lol.
I had a call from this number also claiming to be from the ATO chasing a debt. Strong Asian accent and poor english. I asked why I had not received anything in writing if this were so and he tried to tell me that they could not issue something in writing without trying to resolve it with me first. I said that was very odd. He then wanted to know who had filed my tax return and I said that if they were the ATO, then they would already know that as it is on the tax return, so he hung up on me. Good guys 1: scammers 0.
Stupid SCAM, don't even reply the call. They are claiming that they are from ATO.
Scam call saying you are on the ATO watch list. But is a robot call with an indian accent.
The same just happened to me - the fellow with a foreign accent claimed he was from the ATO - we didn't get much past that because it sounded like a scam.
