Got and call from 02 6188 5627 it played an automated message (slight accent) saying they were from the ATO and that a tax avoidance case against me has been lodged, and that I was to call back immediately.

I called back, they answered ATO, they wanted my name to 'put me through to the right person'. Didn't give them a thing but questioned their legitimacy, and they hung up. Bloody scammers!

The sad thing is that this was at my parents' place and they are very old so luckily I answered. My parents would be horrified if someone told them they didn't their pay tax! How many other elderly people out there get these calls, and unaware that it's a scam, they are left frightened and confused.

Look the reason of my call, is to let you know that, we have received some illegal condition complaints against your name; illegal claims against your name, concerning some illegal tax evasion; some tax avoidance in the past. Aah, we're about to take this matter to the courthouse, and we're about to issue, a non-bailable arrest warrant concerning you. Before we go and even do that, if you need any further details about this case, or if you need to know exactly what the events are, you can return our call, you can call us back on our callback number which is.02 61885627.
