I received a call from this number today. The Indian man at the other end of the phone said he was from the tax office and that I owed tax and that there was a warrant out for my arrest. I hung up on him but even though I knew that it must be a scam because I don't owe tax it still rattled me. I am an old woman so my son rang them back and spoke to a man who said that he was from the tax office so my son had a few choice words to say to him. I rand telstra who said that the number was already on their watch list and have blocked them calling me again.

Called back and spoke to an Indian call centre attendant asking for my phone number etc.. Yeah right. I started quizzing him why the number wasn't listed as any official taxation office number and he hung up on me. I called a couple more times and he immediately hung up me. I got my wife to call and he started talking again until I got on the phone and he hung up again. My alleged tax evasion must not be too important after all.
